눈 means snow in Korean. The basic form of 와요 is 오다 which is come in Korean. So, Koreans actually say ‘snow is coming’. You can replace 눈 to other words to describe the weather.
You can drop subject marker 이 to make it sound more natural

Korean has another phrase to say it’s snowing in Korean. 내려요 can mean so many things. but in this case, it means ‘falling down’. The basic form of 내려요 is 내리다. It can mean ‘come down’, ‘get off (from a vehicle)’, ‘fall’, ‘go down’, ‘lower’, ‘reduce’, ‘drop’, ‘bring down’, ‘cut down’. Oohh… too many translations right? But you don’t need to memorize them all. Just remember it has an image of ‘going down’.

You can drop subject marker 이 anytime in ‘눈이 와요’ : 눈 와요. Native Koreans prefer this way much more in a conversation and you should never use ‘은/는’ for this phrase because that doesn’t make any sense in Korean.

* -자 conjugation is informal non-honorific. Be careful with using it.
Things To Know
Saying It’s snowing in Korean is very unnatural with present progressive tense except you are describing the past like a novel because Korean grammar uses present tense to describe what’s ongoing too.

[gyeoul-eneun nun-i wayo]
It snows at winter
Korean language uses the present tense to describe ongoing too. So, 눈이 와요 actually means ‘it snows’. You have to mention of specific time if you want to use this phrase just like English present tense.
