How To Say It’s Not Funny in Korean
안웃겨요
[an-utgyeoyo]
It’s not funny
Basic form : 안웃기다
반말(informal non-honorific) form : 안웃겨
Positive form with 해요 speech style : 웃겨요
안웃겨요 literally means ‘it’s not funny’. However, the verb 웃겨요 actually means ‘to make someone laugh’ but it can mean ‘to be funny’ at same time. Sometimes 웃겨요 sounds more similar to ‘hilarious’ more than ‘funny’. You can’t say 안웃겨요 when someone laughs about or at something that you find it offensive.

You Can Always Say
재미없어요
[jemi-epsseoyo]
It’s not fun
재미없어요 actually means ‘it’s not fun’. However, Native Koreans use it as ‘it’s not funny’ also. 웃겨요 can be used only for a meaning ‘funny’ but 재미있어요 can be used for ‘fun’ and ‘funny’ both.
Difference
You can’t say 안웃겨요 when someone laughs about or at something that you find it offensive. Native Koreans directly say ‘웃지마세요’ which means ‘don’t laugh’ or ‘장난하지 마세요’ which means ‘be serious’ or ‘behave yourself’ (장난하지 마세요 is actually more like ‘don’t play recklessly’)
웃지마세요
Don’t laugh
장난하지 마세요
Be serious / Behave yourself
